Pass Through The Waters One Verse Blog - Day 3

Today’s Reading
1But now, thus says the Lord, your Creator, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel, “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine! 2 “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you. 3 “For I am the Lord your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior; -Isaiah 43:1-3 (NASB)

Years ago I was involved in a huge multi-million dollar project. The scope of this project was extremely daunting with tons at stake for the company, both independent contractors and customers alike. There was much uncertainty that surrounded the outcome of this project, which only increased the intensity of what was at risk – millions of dollars!
I remember one early morning stumbling across this passage. The words seemed to rise off the page and sink into my heart. The weight of the project began to lift from my shoulders that day and onto the One who could truly carry it for me.

Just as God took care of the Israelites, I understood He would take care of me. Why? I knew that I was grafted into God’s family. I knew that when He called them by name, He also knew my name. He called me His. The same goes for you! As easy as it would have been for the waters or even the fires of this project to completely consume my mind, the opposite happened. This verse became my comfort and security. I would pass through, and not be overtaken nor burned! This would come to pass.

Reflection
What current or even past situation in your life have you felt the waters churn in an attempt to overtake you? What fire is raging so much that the flames are reaching to scorch and burn? Right now, go to your knees and lay down all that is overwhelming you at the foot of the cross. Choosing today to hand it over to God will impact your tomorrow and days to come.

Prayer
Father, I thank You that You have called me by name. You are my rock, my anchor. You have redeemed me. Thank You for Your unfailing love. Help me today, Father, to live in victory through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Thank You for choosing me! Amen
