Day 20 - SL 40 Days

May 12, 2026

Day 20:

Proverbs 2:3–5: “If you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.”

Devotion:

In Acts 8, an Ethiopian man was reading the book of Isaiah and did not understand it. When someone asked if he got it, he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” He was not embarrassed to admit he had questions. That honesty opened the door for real understanding. The same is true for you. When you read something confusing, do not skip over it. Write it down. Ask who wrote it, who they were writing to, and what was going on at the time. Questions are not signs that you do not belong in the Bible. They are signs that you are actually engaging with it.

Questions:

  1. What Bible passage has confused you the most? What questions do you have about it?
  2. Why do you think people sometimes feel afraid to ask questions about the Bible?
  3. What is one thing you could do this week to find answers to a question you have had?
