Devotion:

Have you ever sat in a class at school and had no clue what the teacher was trying to explain? Well in this passage, this is how the disciples felt. In the first half, verses 24-30, Jesus shares the parable of the weeds. Later on in verses 36-43, after the crowd had gone and the disciples had Jesus in private, they asked him to explain his teachings. The cool thing is, we can do this too! We can ask God to help us understand his word, and we can use our resources to gain more clarity. Today continue practicing the new teaching movements that you have learned to understand this passage.

1. How does it make you feel that even the disciples had questions about Jesus’ teachings?
2. What resources can you use to gain more understanding about this passage?
3. We learn in this passage that the devil tries to bring negative influences into our lives and plant seeds of corruption. What are some negative influences in your life that are making it hard for you to seek God with clarity?
