Day 28 - SL 40 Days

Day 28:

Proverbs 3:5-6: Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Devotion:

Everyday our brains are constantly trying to make sense of the world around us. We want to understand. Our pride gets in the way and we often try to rely on our own understanding. In today’s scripture we learn that if we rely on God’s understanding and submit to him, He will make our paths straight. As we are learning to understand scripture better, choose to rely on God to help you. Do not get discouraged when you cannot understand, but seek wisdom and submit your study time to the Lord.

Questions:

1. What areas of your life have you been leaning on your own understanding?
2. Do you submit your Bible study time to the Lord and seek to understand and apply? Or, is your Bible study time just a check box in your daily routine?
3. Spend time in prayer submitting your study time to the Lord. Ask him to help you understand and give you encouragement to go deeper in your study.
